SLO County Activities to Add to Your Summer Bucket List

Another summer, another bevy of activities to enjoy on California’s sun-soaked Central Coast. The natural world and pleasant weather make this area a haven for outdoor enthusiasts all summer long, and with so many adventures and events to embark on, narrowing down what to do during your visit can become borderline stressful. But there’s no need to stress—all the ingredients are here in San Luis Obispo County to make Summer 2019 one to remember. So trade those boring to-do lists in for our must-do list and let the fun begin!

Teach Your Kids about the Ocean in Avila Beach

This summer, take your kids to the Central Coast Aquarium in Avila Beach, where they will delight in seeing fun animals and learning all about sea creatures. The oceanfront aquarium is steps away from all the sights, restaurants, hotels, and parks of Avila, so it is a natural stop during your Avila Beach vacation.

Boozy Brunch in Wine Country

The Steakhouse at the Paso Robles Inn offers a hearty, delicious, and fun brunch every Sunday at the Inn from 10 AM to 1 PM. Check it out one warm summer morning, sit out on the patio, and have your fill of mimosas or Bloody Mary’s! The brunch has something for everyone, so bring a partner, a group of friends, or your family to catch up and enjoy your weekend.

Go Paddleboarding or Kayaking in Morro Bay

The summer wouldn’t be complete without some time out on the ocean! Morro Bay is the perfect place for a beginner because of the tides and open, peaceful water. Plus, you’ll witness a lot of wildlife, including dolphins, seals, and otters, in this quiet part of the Central Coast. Rent paddleboards here or kayaks here!

Visit one of California’s most visited homes: Hearst Castle

Mansions are a dime a dozen in California, with movie stars and tech powerhouses building gigantic homes almost daily. But nothing comes close to Hearst Castle. Designed by Julia Morgan as the private residence of publishing mogul William Randolph Hearst, the beautiful mansion was completed in 1947 and now serves as one of California’s most visited homes—offering daily tours and so much more.
