28th Annual SLO Film Fest

We all love a good movie, and with the 28th Annual SLO Film Fest right around the corner, its time we honor the makers of these masterpieces. The SLO Film Fest has been honoring film on the cinematic Central Coast for 28 years, and this year’s event will take place April 26th-May 1st in downtown San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, and Morro Bay. There is a lot going on, so check out slofilmfest.org for more info. We're especially thankful for the exposure that festival brings to SLO County, so we wanted to share our top three film fest favorites!

1. Visitors Get to Explore the Central Coast

If you call the Central Coast home, you know we live in a little slice of paradise. But for many film fest attendees, this could be their first time visiting the Central Coast! We love anything that gives people an excuse to explore this beautiful region. So, while you may have come for the films, stay for the scenery! Don’t miss out on wine tasting in the wine country of Paso Robles, relax in the sand at Avila Beach, or drive the shores of Pismo State Beach. While you’re here, stay with us at any of our area resorts! In Pismo Beach at Pismo Lighthouse Suites or Shore Cliff Hotel. In Avila Beach at Avila Lighthouse Suites, or in Paso Robles at the Paso Robles Inn or The Piccolo.

2. Enjoy the Best of Both Worlds: Film & Food (Wine & Beer too)

What would a proper film festival be without great food and drinks? With sponsors like JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, Luna Red, Flying Embers, and more—this year’s lineup will be delicious! Go the extra mile and purchase a Movie Mogul+ Pass to experience both great films and great local fare. While you’re in the area, check out our very own Steakhouse at the Paso Robles Inn or our newly remodeled Cattlemen’s Lounge for local drinks and bar bites. If you are trying to take in the scenery of charming downtown Paso, enjoy a hand-crafted cocktail at our rooftop bar Tetto, located at The Piccolo.

3. You Must Stay for Surf Nite

For its second year in a row, SLO Film Fest is bringing back Surf Nite to the big screen at Sunset Drive-In on April 28th. Surf Nite brings excitement and surf lovers together to experience award winning films filled with pro-athletes and crystal-clear waters. This year they with be showcasing The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez, directed and written by award-winning filmmaker Stacy Peralta. The film covers Lopez’s journey as an evolving surfer, his personal life, and his impact on modern surf culture today. If you are interested in arriving to the filming early, enjoy live vintage 60s surf sound from Boomer Surf Band and more. To purchase tickets check Slofilmfest Website.
