Mother’s Day on the Central Coast

How do you pamper the woman who deserves everything? We’ve all done the usual presents, like flowers, beautiful jewelry, or delectable chocolates. These things are nice, and they certainly celebrate the awesomeness of your mom. But, we think that the best presents are experiences; the moments, trips, or views that you’ll both remember and smile fondly upon in the years to come. Thankfully for us, it’s pretty easy to pitch a trip to the Central Coast for Mothers’ Day. Less crowded than the other great areas in California, like San Francisco or Las Angeles, The Central Coast offers an equally beautiful and unmatched vacation that will undoubtedly be relaxing, no matter what experience you choose.

1. Spa Day

To start out a great Mother’s Day spa vacation, a great location and atmosphere is essential. That’s why Avila Lighthouse Suites, as close to the beach as you can be, is a great choice for an ideal relaxing vacation. In the morning, spend time enjoying each other’s company from your private balcony, and watch the waves go by!  Soon after, spend the day at The Spa at Avila, the hotel’s on-property spa, where you can enjoy different treatments like massages, facials, or body therapies. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at one of Avila’s great restaurants, like fancy Ocean Grill or the laid-back Custom House, both with excellent views of the ocean. A relaxing beach escape, with the fun and vibrant Avila Beach atmosphere, is a great way to celebrate your mom.

2. Adventure Tour

Some people love a little adventure. If you and your mom want to be adventure buddies, a Pismo Beach vacation can be ideal. After checking in at Shore Cliff Lodge, try kayaking or paddle-boarding around Pismo Beach with Central Coast Kayaks or Pismo Beach Surf Shop. Not for the faint of heart, Skydive Pismo Beach also offers a Skydiving experience that neither of you will ever forget. Kick back with dinner at a coastal restaurant so you can watch the waters you just braved. Wooly’s is a casual place for a bite, right on the beach in Pismo, or try Ventana Grill, which is atop the cliffs and offers magnificent ocean and sunset views.

3. Wine Tour

For a mom that loves the finer things in life, visiting Paso Robles is a no-brainer. Stay at the Paso Robles Inn, and you’ll get convenient access to the best wineries in the area. Book a wine tour to make it easier to try all the wineries along the Paso Robles Wine Trail. The Inn is a relaxing placing to unwind both before and after your adventure. Certain rooms have natural hot springs tubs, where you can relax in a sulfur bath with numerous healthy advantages. Additionally, to continue with the wine themed adventure, stay in one of the Inn’s wine themed rooms, each decorated based on a different local winery.

4. Boutique & Eat

Take your pick from one of our beach hotels, Avila Lighthouse Suites, Shore Cliff Lodge, or Pismo Lighthouse Suites; to enjoy the ocean breeze while having access to the great shopping all around the Central Coast. After waking up and having your morning coffee with an ocean view, head to San Luis Obispo, a 15 minute drive on the 101 South, to visit some unique boutiques in the downtown area. Pick out a new ring or bracelet at Super Silver, local art at one of SLO’s art galleries, or browse the selections at the clothing boutiques. Grab lunch at Novo for a undisturbed view of Mission Plaza and San Luis Obispo’s babbling creek.
