Messy Fun For Kids!
Any parent knows that children and messes go together like peanut butter and jelly. Mud fights, water play, and backyard excavations may be a bit of a nuisance at home, but we think they are perfect for vacation. Here on the Central Coast, there are no shortage of messy activities for children, including sand castle building, wildlife viewing, ice cream eating, and even dinosaur digging. The best part about all the messy fun a Central Coast vacation has to offer is that the mess stays in the hotel and away from your home!
1. Build A Sandcastle
Even in early Autumn, the weather in gorgeous Pismo Beach is not too chilly for sandy beach activities. Kid-tested fun waits just steps from your guestroom at Pismo State Beach, where your family can enjoy building a sandcastle, or maybe even have a sandcastle building contest! Remember: wet sand is a key ingredient to the perfect sand castle, and a day of sandy, sunny, #CentralCoasting fun!
2. Visit Central Coast Wild Life
Tide pool creatures, elephant seals, turkeys, and horses abound in San Luis Obispo county. Take your family for a hike in Paso Robles for the chance to spot horses and wild turkeys. Take your family for a beach day to check out the tide pools of shell beach, or the elephant seals of San Simeon.
3. We all Scream for Ice Cream!
The Central Coast is home to incredible, locally grown and made food. Luckily for your little ones, this array of amazing food is no stranger to ice cream. Visit local favorite Doc Burnstein’s for a scoop of sugary goodness, and resultant happy, sticky kids!
4. Visit Jurassic Quest
This weekend, Paso Robles is host to Jurassic Quest: North America’s biggest display of dinosaurs and dinosaur-related activities. Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8, visit the Paso Robles event center for some Dino-related family fun, including a dinosaur dig.
