Spooky Halloween Events On The Central Coast
Fall is seriously one of the best times on the Central Coast, which isn’t known by a lot of people. The weather is still fantastic, but with fewer people crowding the beaches and beloved attractions, giving travelers who do visit a much more local feel of the area. Besides the beautiful fall colors and quiet atmosphere, autumn is great time to come experience the Central Coast through the many Halloween themed events! Together, our team has compiled a list of some of the best ways to celebrate spooky season and do it in style.
Oct. 1-31st: Peruse The Cambria Scarecrow Festival
This month-long event is in its eleventh year and features a wide variety of scarecrows ranging from cute to creepy! This community wide-event boasts hundreds of scarecrows bowling, bathing, painting, pedaling, fishing and flying through Cambria, San Simeon and Harmony. The festival started in 2009 with just 30 scarecrows and has continued to grow due to participation from community members. Grab the kids or a friend and take a drive down to Cambria before the month is over!
Oct. 1-31st: Visit The Haunt in Atascadero
As the longest running haunted house in San Luis Obispo County, The Haunt knows how to scare. This haunted house is a fully-immersive, interactive theater experience that will be sure have you screaming. Find a group of brave friends and step into the haunted halls of The Haunt on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays all month long. Have a kiddo who’s not a quite ready for the full experience? Bring them to one of the lights-on tours for a more kid-friendly haunting! Either way there’s no better way to celebrate Halloween than to get a little scared.
Oct. 29: Drink a Beer at Seven Sisters Brewing’s Halloween Bash!
Get your costume ready and head to this spooktacular event at Seven Sisters Brewing. Costume contest winners will bring home prizes and all will enjoy complimentary snacks. Food will be available for purchase and of course you can’t miss out on the beers!

Oct. 31: Watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show Live
Another great way to celebrate Halloween is to embrace some of the classic films associated with it! Even better, now you can watch some of your favorite scenes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show reenacted live at the SLO Brew Rock Event Center. Grab some friends, grab a pint, grab a seat and enjoy a night of festive fun. We’re sure this is a performance you won’t forget! Showings are at 6 or 9 pm, boys and ghouls.
Oct 1-31st: Go On A Ghost Tour
Rendezvous with the supernatural on this 40-minute tour at the Dana Cultural Center in Nipomo. Focusing on “The Bloody 50s,” an era when numerous murders took place due to the lawless roads that travelers journeyed frequently. Come be a witness to the infamous bandit raid of the historic Adobe and let the chills roll down your spine. If you arrive early you can enjoy time around a campfire and hear a few extra ghost stories before you begin your tour.
