Celebrate National Candy Day on the Central Coast

It’s the sweetest day of the year, it’s National Candy Day! Satisfy your sweet tooth at any one of these delightful local candy shops across the Central Coast today!

1. Mama Ganache Artisan Chocolate

Located in downtown San Luis Obispo, this family-run chocolate business prides itself on providing ethically sourced and produced high-quality chocolates. Since their opening in 2004, Mama Ganache has maintained Fair Trade and Organic certifications thanks to Chef Tom’s passion for his NGO, Project Hope and Fairness. The project supplies villages in West Africa with the equipment they need to produce and sell chocolate from the beans they grow. Chef Tom has recently obtained single-source beans through direct trade to begin making his own chocolate. But it gets even sweeter—Mama Ganache even offers free delivery to local hospitals and care facilities. Next time you crave chocolate, support the candy shop that’s supporting the world.

2. Avila Valley Barn

This charming attraction is most well known for its beautiful apple orchard and picture-perfect pumpkin patch. However, Avila Valley Barn also offers visitors an extensive menu of fudge and gourmet sweets that you just can’t say no to. Some of their hand-crafted fudge flavors include classics like Dark Chocolate Fudge and Rocky Road, but they even offer specialties like Watermelon, Vanilla Walnut, and Snickers! Stop by on your next drive out to Avila Beach for a treat that the entire family will love.

3. Tomasko’s Pismo Beach Taffy

Owner Roger Tomasko established his iconic Pismo Beach candy store in 1999, inspired by the taffy store he used to frequent as a child at the Jersey Shore. For years, locals and visitors alike have become loyal customers as they know that Tomasko’s homemade candy is of good quality at a reasonable price. What makes Tomasko’s so special? Roger makes his fudge using a rare 90-year-old cream beater, giving the fudge the perfect texture: a mix of grainy, sugary, and smooth. With Taffy, Carmel Apples, Fudge, Chocolates, and more, Tomasko’s is the perfect place for you to celebrate National Candy day.
