California Wine Month: Central Coast Wineries with a View
If you’ve ever wanted to visit Paso Robles, September is the perfect time to do it as California Wine Month is in full swing! Happening at the peak of harvest season, you can enjoy special tastings, festivals, concerts, and wine and food pairings all month long! With this next installment of our California Wine Month blog series, we invite you to join us in honoring all that our local vintners and growers bring to the economy, culture, and lifestyle of Paso Robles by visiting the wineries with some of the most beautiful views of our wine country, outlined below.
Nestled in the western hills of Paso Robles, 1,500 acres of beautiful oak woodland known as Adelaida Springs Ranch hugs Rangeland Wine’s 40-acre vineyard, creating a truly special setting for tasting their world class wines. Their winemakers pride themselves on creating “field crafted” wines, meaning that their fruit is carefully grown and vinified naturally to achieve the fullest expression of their coastal mountain terroir. Rangeland’s ranch offers visitors a connection to a naturally beautiful and productive place, giving guests peace of mind as they enjoy a break from crowds and city streets. Rangeland Wines offers wine tasting, vineyard tours, and ranch tours by appointment only, so be sure to call before visiting.
Those at Calcareous Vineyard believe that “the most important aspect of a winery is its place.” If you’ve ever visited Calcareous, you’ll know that they have one of the best places in Paso Robles! With 442 acres perched atop 1,800 feet of solid calcareous rock on the west side of Paso Robles and only 12 miles away from the Pacific Ocean, this vineyard is a sanctuary where wine lovers can drink in the best of Paso Robles wine country. In fact, this part of the Paso Robles AVA is the fastest growing and most sought out land for growing wine grapes in California, so you can believe that Calcareous offers amazing wines in addition to amazing views! After all, their slogan is “come for the wine, stay for the view!”
Still Waters Vineyards
From their exquisite 2-acre gardens to a 120-year old olive grove, there’s a lot of beauty to drink in at Still Waters Vineyards. Located on a sloping hill overlooking the El Pomar district of Paso Robles wine country, this endearing boutique vineyard is the perfect place to watch the summer sun rise and set as you sip on their premium estate wines. Still Waters is also committed to providing adequate habitats to native species, so you’ll see an assortment of wildlife on the property like sweet sparrows or breathtaking eagles.
Daou Vineyards & Winery
At Daou’s mountaintop estate, you’ll enjoy an above-the-clouds view that was one said to be “a candidate for one of the top 10 most beautiful vineyard vistas in the world” by a veteran wine critic. Rising from the heart of the rugged coastal range west of Paso Robles, Daou Mountain stands tall with an elevation of 2,200 feet, giving guests an amazing view of wine country’s wild beauty. Owners and brothers, Georges Daou and Daniel Daou came to Paso Robles with the goal of producing an unrivaled Cabernet Sauvignon, spending years looking for the perfect place to plant their roots. When they came upon the mountain in Paso Robles’ Adelaida district, they knew they had found the property they’d been looking for, complete with ideal soil, aspect, and climate for winemaking. As you can see, this land hasn’t failed them.
