10 Things To Love About the California Mid-State Fair

Another summer seems like it’s passing us by – we’ve already BBQ’d and celebrated for the Fourth of July, and the days are still getting warmer and warmer and seem to last forever. But at least we know it’s that time – for the California Mid-State Fair! We may have had our concert tickets saved for months, or just remembered about the fair today, but it’s a genuine, fun experience that we can’t wait to experience for another year. Cotton candy, warm nights, the bright lights of beaming rides, and more await us this year, and we can’t wait to hear some of our favorite artists at the Chumash Arena. Here are 10 reasons to love our favorite big fair in a small town – the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles.

1 – You can see the biggest names in entertainment without having to drive to the big city for a show!

Famous and talented musicians always take the stage at the Mid State-Fair. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Luke Bryan, Demi Lovato, ZZ TOP, and more will perform at the Chumash Auditorium this summer. For shows that aren’t already sold out, you can purchase tickets here.

2 – The animal lover in you will delight in cuddly critters at the fair!

From pony rides to a full petting zoo with cows, pigs, and goats, you’ll love getting up close and personal with some of Paso’s cutest farm animals.

3 – Experience Paso Robles the way the locals do and fall in love with this small town’s charm…

The laid-back, classic Paso Robles feel will be on full effect with oak trees and warm weather as you spend your time exploring the park, strolling through exhibits and places like Frontier Town with a glass of local wine in hand.

4 – Whether it’s your first rodeo or not, there are many fun ways to put some dust on your boots!

Anyone can feel like a cowboy or cowgirl at the Mid-State Fair, with bull riding, barrel racing, swing dancing at Jimmy’s Watering hole, the Rodeo Finals and more.

5 – The entire family will bond over hands-on activities, creating special memories you’ll cherish for years to come…

The Mid-State Fair is the perfect place to show kids new things and new experiences, from delicious, unique food to adorable animals and riveting rides.

6 – A wide variety of food options will please your inner Foodie and indulge your carnival cravings!

The diversity of food reflects the small town, big fair atmosphere: with local, artisan foods from local vendors like Batch Ice Cream. Try classic fair snacks like caramel apples, bloomin’ onions, and funnel cakes, but also delight in lobster dogs and venison and duck confit. The choice is yours!

7 – The Mid-State Fair’s awesome selection of rides will give you a thrill-inducing good time that will evoke all your best memories of summer…

8 – The Mid-State Fair is your time to get the competition going, with arcade games and exciting contests

Have fun and win a couple prizes! If you’re not one for competing, be a spectator in some fun contests like the Strongest Man and Woman contest, Watermelon Eating Contest, or Apple Pie Contest.

9 – One of the best parts about the Mid-State Fair is the community you’ll find…

With a small time vibe with endlessly friendly people, in a big environment with no shortage of fair activities to take part in, you’ll find an idyllic, pleasant, and happy fair experience with the other people you meet.
