Why We Love Spring on the Central Coast
Spring is especially beautiful in our hometown, and it’s a season we know well! Not only is spring a great time to visit due to the weather and landscape, but there are also plenty of exciting events taking place in the next few months. Enjoy the things that we love the most about this season on the Central Coast!
The drive from Pismo to San Luis Obispo and back is so beautiful following the heavy rains of late winter. Every resident can’t help but exclaim that the hills are just so green! The rolling hills don’t stay this vibrant color for long but turn brown once it gets hotter into the summer season. Take a hike on Madonna Mountain or Bishop’s Peak to soak in the temporary view!
With El Nino seemingly over, we can look forward to spending more time at the beach this spring season. For March and April, the weather will start getting into the 70’s, the perfect warm, yet mild, temperature to spend an afternoon getting lunch and drinks at Avila Beach or laying on the sand at Pismo State Beach!
Explosion of Festivals
Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying “Let’s Party!” – but this holds true for residents of SLO as well! The amount of fun events and festivals taking place in the area skyrockets in the springtime. Taste local wine and food, dance and enjoy live music, or soak in natural beauty in one of these soon-to-come festivals.
The Great Outdoors
Spring is the perfect time to get outdoors, active, and enjoy the world we live in. There’s no better place to do this than the Central Coast – we’ve got ocean bluffs, hilly mountains to climb, and a beautiful state park. Visit Montaña de Oro, a natural wonderland consisting of 12.5 square miles along the ocean near Los Osos. You’ll fall in love with the rolling meadows and picturesque cliffs, and the view from the top of Valencia Peak is unbelievable!
Delicious Fresh Food
Farmer’s Markets were made for springtime. Delicious fruits and veggies are coming into season, including fruits like strawberries and oranges, vegetables, and fresh herbs like cilantro and parsley. Check it out! There are farmer’s markets in Los Osos on Mondays, Paso Robles on Tuesdays, Pismo Beach on Wednesdays, San Luis Obispo on Thursdays, Arroyo Grande on Saturdays, and Nipomo on Sundays.
